G-Klasse 300GD

Project Summary

The vehicle was manufactured in 1985, and came to our workshop just for body restoration and paint. During disassembly, many other problems were revealed, so the customer decided to overhaul much more than what was assumed at first.

Restauration time: 1300 hours.
Completely disassembled (no work done on engine and gearbox).

The body was checked to determine the affected areas by rust, as well the optimal solution for removing the rusted components. The decision was to buy original body elements, and where necessary, the respective elements were manufactured in-house during bodywork jobs.

All other systems / components of the vehicle were checked, and where necessary, the components were replaced to ensure the systems are working properly.

The front and rear axles have been completely refurbished, including seals, bearings, front axle shafts, replacement of the ring and gear for a lower ratio, and in the end adjustment of gear contact pattern.

A complete overhaul process was also applied for the transfer case.
On this vehicle, the OM606 engine was in good condition, installed previously, so no work was done on it since was already covered by warranty.

Refurbished body trims, replacement of exterior mirrors, and rear lamps.

Replaced upholstery on front seats, also prepared a set of Recaro seats, and reupholstered door cards.

All dashboard trims were repainted.

The vehicle was reconditioned on request, for a customer from the UK, who wanted the appearance to be the original one with only some improvements (paint colour, overfenders, 18” Ashtaroth rims, PUR mirrors, LED headlamps, Recaro seats) and the car to operate safely to be used as a daily driver.

The vehicle is now used as a daily driver in the UK.
