Steyr – Puch 280GE

Project Summary

Vehicle manufactured in early 1979, it is one of the first prototypes of this model, vehicle number 32.

The restoration process was aimed to restore the vehicle to factory condition, at the same time with keeping as much as the original body parts.

Time spent in this project: 1350 hours.

Jobs done in this project involved disassembly, inspection, paint strip, sandblast of all old layers of PVC coating under the vehicle, bodywork, replacement of rusted parts and repair where this was possible, frame restoration, disassembly, check and assembly for axles, transfer case and gearbox, with new seals and bearings, disassembly, check and assembly of engine and injection system, with replaced timing assembly, crankshaft bearings, etc.

In the end the vehicle enters in the assembly process, where all worn parts like ornaments, lamps, side markers, etc are replaced with new ones. Front seats are reupholstered with original material.

After all these jobs there started a period of drive tests, to ensure that vehicle is properly running, and then registered to Germany.

The car is now stored in a private collection in Germany.
